Timeline help

This is a visual browsing tool that maps objects by date of creation onto a timeline.

The circles indicate where online objects feature on the timeline.

• Each circle represents at least one object within a span of 100 years around that point.
• The size indicates the relative number of objects at that point on the timeline.
• The colour indicates which objects on the timeline are visible on the current page of results.
• Hover over a circle to see how many objects are represented at that point in time.

Click and drag the black bars to the left and right of the timeline to focus on a particular period of time.

Click on the buttons above the timeline to expand (+), collapse (-) or hide (x) the timeline.
