Catalogue text
A continuous design of paired leaves and quatrefoils, as in Cat. no. 794 [EA1990.801]. One of the paired leaves is filled with dots. The pattern is defined by white outlines on a light red ground.
The reverse shows more dye saturation than the surface. The fabric is very faded. The size of the block used was 14 cm. x 11 cm. Possibly 15th century; see Cat. no. 797 [EA1990.804] for radiocarbon results. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
