Textile fragment with squares, rosettes, and flower-heads

Details

  • Catalogue text

Various squares in white and blue, with elaborate rosettes or flower-heads inside. These are red, blue, and white with brown outlines. The squares are surrounded by red border bands that contain small squares and diamonds.

A rolled hem on two sides. A very small fragment of the same fabric is sewn onto the textile with a flat seam. The reverse shows slightly less dye saturation for red and brown, but there is more blue than on the surface.
