Catalogue text
Two wide border bands with highly stylized plant forms linked into medallion shapes. A narrow band with a continuous vine separates the border from the beginning of a large design field. The pattern is generally red on a white ground.
A seam across the width of the fragment was sewn prior to printing. The reverse shows the same dye saturation as the surface. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
