Catalogue text
Three narrow bands, one with red, white, and blue elongated hexagons on black ground, the next with a continuous, black and red vine on blue ground, and the third with a fine, white interlaced vine and red flowers on black. The bands are separated by small borders with single lines of dots.
The reverse shows less dye saturation for red and black, but considerably more for blue. The edge of the block used is visible across all three bands. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
