Catalogue text
A band with two long hexagons defined by the light ground fabric, each containing a small eagle; the hexagons are separated by linked diamonds and hook motifs.
The band is two centimetres wide. There is a hem along one edge, parallel to the band, and remains of stitching along the three other sides. The curve of one of these suggests that there formerly may have been a pocket. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
