Catalogue text
A band with a heart-shaped medallion between two cruciform stylized floral motifs: at each centre there is a small bird-like creature.
The band may have been part of the neck opening of a tunic, where often this type of amulet patterning is embroidered. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
