Catalogue text
A half medallion and parts of squares, defined by narrow white bands with dots inside, and surrounded by naturalistic sprigs of flowers, all white on a red ground. Adjacent to it is a band of small arrows and discs under arches, white on brown ground. The fragment is similar to Cat. no. 773 [EA1990.780].
The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
