Catalogue text
Fragment of a large circle surrounded by a narrow beaded band of white dots on brown, small red leaves on white ground, radiating outwards, and a second beaded band. The centre apparently held four white flowers, with brown outlines on a red ground. A large red leaf filled with white dots, and the tip of a brown leaf are similar in design to Cat. no. 679 [EA1990.686].
The reverse is less saturated with dye than the surface. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
