Catalogue text
Squares with a spiral design, white on brown, alternate with squares which have an uncertain pattern, possibly representing tendrils and a floral centre. The latter is white on a red ground. In addition there is a band with small discs, white on brown.
A narrow, rolled hem along the edge of the band. The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
