Catalogue text
A border with a cartouche showing intricate, white interlace on a red ground, as well as single white leaves. On either side is a narrow band with a continuous vine and a sawtooth border. In addition, there is the beginning of an overall design which has its origin in the stylized plant pattern of Cat. no. 1107 [EA1990.1114].
Selvedge parallel to the bands. The reverse shows slightly more dye saturation than the surface. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
