Catalogue text
A tab with a continuous vine as a surround, and squares containing a rosette in the lower corners; a flowering plant inside. The plant's central rosette has the same shape as Cat. no. 164 [EA1990.172], and scroll and flower at the top also are similar. The resist defines the design, the background is blue.
Delicate stitching around the edge shapes a finely folded hem. On one side there is coarse stitching as well. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
