Mokkō; thick; each face showing a raised concave border of ishime surface enclosing a field of deeply cut relief (on the front, wavy stems of peony; on the back, various Precious Objects); on the edge of each lobe is a panel of cloud-forms in similar styles. Hirado work. A similar guard was given to the V. and A. M. by Sir Arthur Church.
