Textile fragment with rosettes and tendrils

Details

  • Catalogue text

Narrow, brown bands filled with white semi-rosettes and quatrefoils are set at various angles around a field of small, red rosettes linked by tendrils, closely placed on a white ground. There also is the beginning of a large rosette or medallion, red on white ground, and a red floral shape, also on white ground.

A rolled hem is sewn with yellow silk. The reverse is less saturated with dye than the surface.
