Catalogue text
The main design field has yellow and white (undyed) triangles juxtaposed to form squares; there is an additional border band with a continuous, interlocked vine. The pattern is defined through fine, grey outlines and filled in with yellow.
A selvedge along the border band. The reverse shows very little dye saturation. The dye analysis has shown that the colorant used to produce the grey was a tannin. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
