Catalogue text
Linked crosses are arranged in a line and as small clusters.
The piece is the front of a slipper, with overcast edging and leather binding. A linen fabric is covered with blue silk and embroidered. There is a fine leather edge as well as remains of leather against the back, which was the slipper's inside. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
