Textile fragment with part of a large rosette medallion

Details

  • Catalogue text

A fragment of a large rosette medallion, with overlayers of petals, similar to Cat. no. 218 [EA1990.226]. Here the petals are reddish brown with white dots and some blue details. Narrow, blue bands with white dots are set between the petals.

Selvedge and a mending seam sewn with loose stitches. For both red and blue, the reverse shows considerably more dye saturation then the surface.
