Catalogue text
Elaborate s-shapes, eight-petalled rosettes without central dots, and quatrefoils, as in Cat. no. 10 [EA1990.18]. The elaboration of the s-shapes gives them an angular appearance. The resist defines the pattern, the background is blue.
A single reversed s helps to identify the block-size as 14.5 cm. x 9.5 cm.In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
