Catalogue text
Large stylized leaves, related to the plant design of Cat. no. 1121 [EA1990.1128]. The leaves are red on a blue background, with white ornamental details added. Each has a frame following its outline, made up from two parallel white lines. The background is filled with additional white tendrils and bunches of fruit.
The reverse shows less dye saturation for red than the surface, but more for the blue. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
