Catalogue text
Stylized two-leaved plants, one leaf filled with dots; these are arranged around central quatrefoils, as in Cat. no. 309 [EA1990.318]. The design is defined by white outlines, but filled with red against a red background.
The design is not as carefully executed as in the previous fragment [EA1990.318]. The size of the block was 10.5 cm. x 7.5 cm. The reverse is saturated with dye. Possibly 15th century, see Cat. no. 797 [EA1990.804].In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
