Catalogue text
A border band with a medallion and leaf terminals, as in Cat. no. 189 [EA1990.197]. A narrow zig-zag band is on either side. In addition, a fragmentary motif of a vine with leaves and flowers, possibly the beginning of the main field. The resist defines the design, the background is blue.
Selvedge. As in Cat. no. 189 [EA1990.197], the border was block-printed, but the main field may have been drawn by hand. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
