Catalogue text
A wide band is divided into rectangles; two of these are filled with two versions of linked squares, one with a single quatrefoil rosette, the other with a four-legged spiral. The two remaining rectangles have five diagonal lines, each with a single line of crosses. Along the border is a ?stylized inscription. Most of the embroidery is worked in stepped double running stitch.
The band is 7.5 cm wide. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
