Catalogue text
A band containing two hexagons, each with an inscription and linked by three small diamonds. The blue embroidery provides the outline as well as the calligraphy.
The band is 1.7 cm wide. Two run-and-fell seams are at right angles to the embroidery band. The embroidery stops at one of the seams, but extends beyond the other. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
