Catalogue text
A palm tree framed by two tendrils, a pavillion, and additional floral patterns, as in Cat. no. 444 [EA1990.451].
The fragment is sewn together from two pieces; one has a selvedge at right angles to the seam. The pattern at the seam is not matched. This textile was part of the same fabric as Cat. no. 444 [EA1990.451], as is indicated by the similarities of design and technical details. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
