Catalogue text
Border with a palm tree framed by two tendrils; additional floral designs and part of a pavillion. The pattern is grey against a light background, now heavily soiled.
Selvedge. Two fragments linked by a few warp threads along the selvedge. The fragment was sewn together from two pieces at right angles to the selvedge. The reverse does not show much dye penetration. Probably 18th century. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
