Catalogue text
Ren Xiong was a versatile artist who excelled in the combination of the traditional and the popular with which the Shanghai School, in which he was active, is associated. This album includes landscapes, figures, and bird and flower paintings; the leaf illustrated here depicts in a restrained fashion the usually colourful and decoratively painted subject of female figures.
