Tankard and cover

On display

Tankard and cover, hinged, silver, parcel-gilt, around the sides are applied figures representing the days of the week; Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sol, Venus, Mercurius, Luna. The cover is embossed and chased with masks and has a siren thumb piece and a finial formed as a man holding a sword. Engraved inside the lid with a coat of arms, identified by M. Wellby as those of the Thomasis family of the Tyrol; and: ‘ANDT 1579’.
