A 4th century Athenian grave relief with a seated male citizen was recarved in the 1st century AD with new portrait features and with the addition of a set of surgical instruments and book scrolls on a shelf, which identify the subject as a surgeon.In: Frederiksen, Rune, and R.R.R.
