Textile fragment with quatrefoils and tendrils

Details

  • Catalogue text

Blue quatrefoils with red outlines are arranged in a regular manner, separated by bands of white tendrils on a light red ground. The design is similar to parts of Cat. no. 957 [EA1990.963].

As in Cat. no. 957 [EA1990.963], the surface and reverse show identical dye saturation and precision of design, so that it is not possible to comment on the process of dye application. The two fragments may have been part of the same fabric.
