Textile fragment with rosettes and lobed diamond-shapes

Details

  • Catalogue text

A continuous design field of eight-petalled rosettes with a dot at the centre, lobed diamonds with a red centre, and an additional dot set between each rosette. The pattern is white against a brown ground. A similar design is common in the group of indigo-dyed fragments, such as Cat. nos. 71 and 82 [EA1990.79 and EA1990.90].

Black thread remains along the selvedge. The width of the block used is 9 cm. The pattern is slightly blurred on the reverse.
