Textile fragment with part of a tab, cartouche, and plant

Details

  • Catalogue text

Part of a tab, defined by dark brown outlines on a red ground, and filled with the same cartouche and plant design as the border of Cat. no. 1078 [EA1990.1085]. Next to the tab is a band of white and brown linked diamonds, with some blue over-dyeing and the beginning of a red and white design.

A selvedge; the design is printed up to and beyond it. For red and brown, the reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface, while there is more blue.
