Wang Hao, who was from an impoverished family, is known to have been active in the region of Wu county near Suzhou in Jiangsu province where he led a wandering life. He was invited by the Chen family in the vicinity of Haimen to live with them as a resident painter. He was known for his calligraphy as well as his painting.
