Catalogue text
Two narrow bands of tapestry weave with brown, white, yellow, and green ovals containing small crescents, against a brown background; a wider band of blue diamonds and half diamonds, woven in supplementary weft.
This fragment is not embroidered, but patterned by weave technique. The bands are at right angles to the selvedge. In: Barnes, Ruth and Marianne Ellis, ‘The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries’, 4 vols, 2001, Oxford, Ashmolean Museum
