Catalogue text
A large fabric with a continuous design of crudely printed red flowers with brown outlines against a light ground. On all four sides are bands with red chevrons; on three sides these are part of the original design, but on the fourth side the band has been sewn on later.
Two selvedges. At one end of the fabric the border and two pieces of fabric with the flower design have been sewn on. 19th century. In: Barnes, Ruth, Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2 vols (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997)
