A continuous field of large circles, each with an eight-petalled red rosette inside and filled with white tendrils on a brown ground. The circles are linked to each other by small floral crosses, white with brown outlines on a red ground.
The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface. The design is very carefully applied. Gittinger says about a similar fragment in the Textile Museum that the brown was produced by stamped mordant, but that the mordant for the red areas was filled in by hand; the same applies here. The block arrangement also is done as in the Textile Museum fragment: the four corners meet in the centre of the circle. The approximate block size was 10 cm. x 10 cm.
