Tankard and cover

Tankard and cover, silver-gilt, the handle formed as a siren, the thumbpiece as a woman riding an animal, the finial as a horsemen. The surface flat chased with meandering ornament. Set into the base is a convex container. Gilt inside, but not beneath the base. Engraved within the lid with two shields of arms with the initials: ‘GFVDG’ and ‘CFVDG’, identified by M. Wellby as Von des Goltz of Prussia and Nellenberg of Swabia. Engraved around the edge of the inside of the cover: ‘M. TOBIAS.BEZALIIL.IUSTINA.BEZELIILAN.AN.1613’.
