Tsuba with himono, or dried salmon

    Oblong, with rounded angles; modelled in openwork with five dried salmon (himono) stretched horizontally within the narrow rounded border, their heads (with gaping mouths full of triangular teeth!) pointing alternately to left and right, their eyes inlaid pieces of mother-of-pearl. An old Akao design.
