Textile fragment with vines forming circles

Details

  • Catalogue text

As in Cat. no. 643 [EA1990.649], the wide design field is filled with continous vines, of which the tendrils curl back to form circles; the pattern is more formalized in this version, though. Adjacent is a band with two interlaced vines, also similar to Cat. no. 643 [EA1990.649]. The large design is red on white, the band is white on red. The beginning of the third design appears on one side of the band; it is brown on white and very fragmentary.
