Textile fragment with S-shapes and small squares

Details

  • Catalogue text

S-shapes, some of which are reversed, and clusters of small squares, a dot following each s-shape. The arrangement is as in Cat. no. 21 [EA1990.25]. The resist defines the pattern, the background is reddish-brown. The pattern ends at two white lines at right angles to each other, one of which is close to the selvedge.

Selvedge; blue stitching shapes a dart, and some additional stitching. The pattern is slightly blurred on the reverse.
