Textile fragment with stylized bodhi leaves, rosettes, and tendrils

Details

  • Catalogue text

Fragment of a large medallion; the surviving designs include a curving and a diagonal band, both with stylized bodhi tree leaves, small rosettes, and tendrils, and stylized leaves and flowers. The patterns are defined by white outlines and filled with blue or red.

The reverse shows very slightly more dye saturation for the red; there is more blue on the surface, though, and it seems as though the dye was not absorbed through immersion.
